Our friends Andy and Amanda came over for brunch the other day and I made
popover, creamed spinach, poached egg breakfast sandwiches (best breakfast ever).
Maybe it was because of the barometric pressure of the coming blizzard, or because I was so glad that our friend Amanda was in town, but the popovers were especially huge and puffy. And delicious.
Those are impressive. I need to try my hand at popovers again. Frankly, I just need to start hosting regular brunches so I can have people over to eat them.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness gracious. That sounds like the most amazing breakfast sandwich maybe ever. Now I feel a deep need to make popovers and eat them with eggs. Right now. Do you think my coworkers would mind?
ReplyDeleteI think the real key was that the milk and eggs were at room temp. when I made the batter. I read somewhere that it makes them pop better, and based on how they turned out on Sunday, I'm pretty sure it's true!
ReplyDeleteMy mom use to make popovers when I was a kid and it was my favorite thing ever. M.D. is from south and biscuits are his thing and I am from the north and popovers well, they make my heart sing. I must say though, I have always been a bit intimidated to really try to make them. Food I can cook, baking that is an art and your popovers look like art!!!
ReplyDeleteWHAT? This look absolutely divine and I'm looking at it through an oven door. You need to share!
ReplyDeletecool pic! those popovers sound yummy.
ReplyDeleteNice going! The last time I made popovers they did not get huge and fluffy - but they still tasted good! I bet yours were dreamy!
ReplyDeleteI can almost smell them! Delicious!
ReplyDeleteI thought those were roasting chickens! But mmmmm....popovers...
ReplyDeleteWhat gorgeous popovers! I need to try that breakfast sandwich ASAP!
ReplyDeleteOK WOAH! In my non-cooking ways I have no idea what a popover is but I sure do want one of yours!!
