For my mom's birthday dinner on Christmas day, we decided to make parpadelle with lobster in vodka sauce, and to make the pasta from scratch. (making lobster 8500 feet above sea level, smack in the middle of Colorado makes sense, I swear.)
after I made the dough we ran into a few problems.
First problem: I had to roll out and cut the dough by hand, which is harder than it looks. (even if you think it looks really, really hard.)
Second problem: we couldn't find the rolling pin so I had to use a wine bottle.
Third problem: the laundry drying rack that I was going to use to dry the pasta was full of clothes so I used hangers,
and hung them on the chandelier.
Problems solved we made the sauce, which was as easy as rolling out the dough was difficult.
In the end it was well worth it because it was delicious! maybe one of the best meals I have ever had.
Happy Birthday Mom!
