I've been thinking about butterfly collections and other oddities for a show I've got coming up in Detroit in March and was really struck when I saw this image at
happy mundane.

Photographer Lauren Bochet took a whole books worth of photos of what was left when a 175 year old Parisian curiosities shop, Deyrolle, suffered a tragic fire.
I'm pretty sure I need
this book, and I'm pretty sure I have
a problem.

Me too me too! Thanks for this post. I love all of this stuff. Have you been to the Menil Collection in Houston? They have a Curisity Cabinet-y room of objects that would have inspired the Surrealists. There are a lot of great dead things in there... I will have to check out this book.
Wow, so interesting and oddly beautiful!
You crack me up...no problem here!!
