One of my most vivid memories of when I lived in Nepal is the festival of Holi.
Holi is a festival of colors, a celebration of the triumph of good over evil and the beginning of spring. (I really like the idea that the coming of spring is seen as the triumph of good over evil, don't you?)
Children and adults alike smear themselves with colors and run through the streets throwing colored powder and water on friends, neighbors and strangers with such mischievous joy.
These amazing photos of this year's Holi on March 1st, from The Big Picture, took me back.

how neat!
Holi is such a beautiful festival. I was really excited when I found out that a group at my school has a Holi celebration -- I can't wait to check it out.
These photos are beautiful! I once saw this on The Amazing Race (should I be embarrassed that's where I first learned about it?) and it was like nothing I'd ever seen before! Amazing.
That's amazing- what an experience you must've had!

These are incredible, I'm even more excited for spring and might have to wear very bright colors & make up on the first day and dance in the street! America needs such a celebration.....
