Starting September 1, 2009 Natalie Purschwitz began a one year long project of wearing only clothes she made.
She's 209 days in making everything, from coats and hats to socks and underwear, and the results are quite interesting. (check out more here.)
My friend Andrew Thompson did a similar project a number of years ago called "A Month of Uniforms" where he made new clothes each day before going to work.
I can't even manage to finish the scarf I started 6 months ago.

I follow makeshift and am so impressed by her. Make my own underwear? I would die.
Oh wow. That's so incredibly ambitious that I blush at my own procrastination! Fantastic!
ha. I'm with you on the scarf thing. I might as well unravel and give the yarn to someone who will make something pretty!
socks, too? I mean, come on! I didn't even know you could sew your own socks. knit, maybe. but it looks like she sewed those. hmm.
Wow, that is very impressive! Down to the undies even. I really should learn to sew it would be so fun to be able to make my own clothes. Although I definitely don't have the dedication to make them all.
Funny you should mention a scarf, my mom is still waiting for me to finish the one I "gave" her last December.
I would probably just do laundry every day. Or I might just go naked haha. But talk about dedication to your artform.
I looove the stockings! :)
Oh wow, there's no way I could do that! So impressive!
That's so impressive, I'm amazed!
Thanks for the comment! I'm right with you, I think I would have to hide in my apartment for months before ever coming out in a full hand-made outfit!
Even underwear? I have no idea what I would do for a bra -- or more importantly, a sports bra. But I seriously admire her talent and ambition.
exactly what I was thinking! Sewing your own underwire? Yikes!
That's so cool. I am thoroughly impressed.
Impressive, That's an artistic commitment & expression!
Impressive. There is also the project where one woman wore the same outfit everyday for a year. I can't recall the name of it, which is a shame because I would love to visit her blog and go through the images again.
Wow, even handmade panties! Very impressive.
