Pomp and Circumstance

Charles Kuralt and Donna Shalala spoke at my graduation from undergrad and that was pretty cool. Jeff Koons spoke at my graduation from grad school and that was amazing.

But U of M's students did one better than even Jeff Koons by getting the 44th President of the United States to speak to them.

Luckily, we get to go!

Seriously I am beyond jealous!!! So much better than the speaker they got for our graduation, who at one point said that there are people who went to Michigan who are now total losers. There was, as you might imagine, some pretty thunderous booing.

Wow, super cool! You're lucky to be going, but they must be so excited.

The year before mine at MIT, they had VP Al Gore speak at commencement. Some pranksters created bingo cards with phrases like "synergy" and "state of the union" so graduating seniors could play along during the ceremony. Alas, no one got bingo... :)

Aw, lucky! No one cool spoke at my graduation. Though Chip Kidd did come to my school once to speak and I basically behaved like a groupie at a concert. Sitting in the front row batting my eyes...

Have fun!
