big trouble

I found this BBC video series about the future of farming via Michael Kline and I kind of wish I hadn't because now I am depressed.

If you want to avoid depression, but still want to watch, you can skip to the last couple videos- that's where they get to the "possibilities" part- as opposed to the "good lord, we're screwed!" part.

As for me, I'm going to go sit under my Pajaki and snack on some homegrown carrots and hope that makes me feel better.

Ha, that's exactly how I was watching Planet Earth: the first 5 DVDs are lovely and majestic, but the last one is about the current state of the environment and what's expected to happen. I went through a funk for weeks after watching that!

I want to watch so badly, but I worry that I'm going to want to abandon my grad school studies and start a farm. As it, my boyfriend and I talk about purchasing a few acres of land someday to have a small farm on it.

Thanks - I really want to watch these, even if it might make me sad. As my yoga teacher said yesterday, we are the secret to the universe. Only we can do something. Or at least try. =)
