decisions

All that "Hoarders" induced cleaning has given way to post cleaning painting.  Only trouble is I can't make up my mind about color.  (I painted the guest room 4 times over the course of a year before finding a color I liked.  I have a problem.)

So, even though I long ago settled on gray for the living room, I've had swatches painted on the wall for, um, about 4 years.  So embarrassing!  Why do I admit these things?!?

So, my friends, what do you think?  Maybe Lamp Room Gray?

Or Manor House Gray?

Or how about Plummet, which was my favorite until my friend said, "I think that might be what would happen to your mood in a room that color."

first image here, all others Farrow and Ball

I have to say, I kind of like plummet. I have a room that's fairly similar in color, and it's actually quite soothing. Not plummet-y at all!

I love grey, but I could never live in a house with grey walls, so I can't help you...I like to look at the pictures but, like your friend, i think it could influence my mood. i'd say choose the brighter grey and mix it with a lot of yellow!!

I like the last color on the pallett. Colors have the funniest names, don't they?

Sorta fond of the lamp house grey. Is the room sunny? Our livingroom (the middle room in a railroad apt. in Brooklyn)use to be a pretty shade of grey (I think it was some Martha color) but, because we had such little light, it made the room kinda dark even though, it was a lt. grey. So, I would keep that in mind. Just saying.......

P.S. Our solution was to paint the ceiling, walls and wood floor all white! I swear it dose not look like a hospital! :)

so many choices! did you take a few and paint some swatches to compare?

we painted our bedroom BM stonington grey and STILL get compliments. the living room is BM edgecomb grey, which looks more khaki-ish with a hint of grey.

if you click on "apartment" links on my blog you can see the wall colors (to some degree) in the background. hope that helps!

Liking the Lamp Room grey a lot! Also the floor/baseboard in that shot. We don't have a source for Farrow and Ball (bummer) so I used Pratt & Lambert Rialto - a dark, warm grey with no blue in my bathroom and dining room. I painted at least a dozen swatches over about 6 months before deciding: it is *hard* to find the right one.

I am a fan of manor house gray - nice and soft colour - just lovely!

I think plummet would be lovely, and your mood wouldn't falter if you filled the room with warm, complimentary accents.

grays are hard! we have two that we use in our home and the first one was fabulous on the first try. the other one was remixed/tried like three times... and we still dont think its perfect haha!

that is tough because they are all good!! But i like lamproom grey. I guess I like the warmer colors best :)

I like the pearl river swatch on top. You are not alone. It is so hard to pick a color. Even with swatches. Once an entire wall is painted that is the only time we can be sure. One thing for sure, the color is always darker than you like it will be!

Gray is tough - because there are so many lovely shades of gray (color pun #1!) I love dark gray, but it would definitely not be good for the mood if one is already feeling a little blue (color pun #2!). I used to renovate homes, and we used a color quite similar to Harbor Gray several times. It is absolutely gorgeous with either cream of bright white trim. But I also like Abalone, Thunder, Pearl River (have painted several bedrooms and bathrooms that color), Silver Fox...

Wait, I'm not helping the the slightest! Good luck with your decision. And please post the "after" pics :)

i love gray! we just did our bedroom in a shade of gray and the only advise i have is to make sure not to pick something too blue or too purple, because it certain light it will pick up more on those colors -- i would go with a shade that has more brown/earth tones.

bahahahha! you are so funny! and i think we have similar disorders! i can either be wickedly decisive, or cruelly and eternally indecisive. paint swatches can drive a person mad. gah!

p.s. my boss is obsessed with grays. cool grays. he agonizes over gray color selections CONSTANTLY. it is annoying. but if i were trying to choose a color i would be just as annoying. for reals.

best of luck to you when you make your selection!

Manor House gray is quite lovely! I love gray walls. You can do so much with them for decorating! I love that you admit things you're embarrassed about - I get a laugh out of it and you feel a little less guilty - i hope!

I like the lamp room gray - I want to paint my kitchen that color and do all gray and white. Thanks for the inspiration! Now I just need to find the time :)
