no cars

Vauban, Germany, a suburb of Freiburg, is a town without cars. There are only two streets intown where they are allowed to drive, and 70% of residents don't own one. They have trams, they have bicycles, and they have feet to get them around and they are really happy because of it. (and probably really fit.)
how cool is that?

you know what I would like best about living in a town with no cars?  We wouldn't need a garage and could have a garden shed.

read more about it at the nytimes.

I wonder if bike theft is an issue. Oh wait it is not in Italy.
