rhubarb

I love strawberry rhubarb pie, and had a good friend who had a rhubarb patch growing up so when we moved into the house I planted some.  We weren't able to eat enough of it to keep the plant under control and ended up with about 12 pounds of rhubarb in the freezer.  I even started making rhubarbaritas (which are delicious!) but it was taking over so I pulled it out.

I read somewhere that said you can grow it in a container to keep it from going crazy, and noticed that the rhubarb I pulled out is growing in our compost pile.  So, I'm going to replant it in a big pot and see how it goes.

Pie for everyone!

Oh, please send some Texas's way! I love rhubarb-- um, this probably sounds gross, but-- just straight with salt. So sour it makes my mouth pucker just thinking about it. I can only eat small amounts that way, but it is an odd craving I will sometimes have. And my mother-in-law makes a mean strawberry rhubarb jam. Yum.

I am going to try rhubarb with salt! if I wasn't worried about my teeth I'd suck on lemons, so I might like it!
