you're a doll

Craft Hope is asking people to make handmade dolls to send to the children at Casa Bernabe, an orphanage for 4 to 18 year old boys and girls in Nicaragua.  They have a couple patterns posted if you're willing and need one.  (I do! and some more sewing lessons, but there's nothing like trial by fire, right? Grace was nice enough to send me a link to an easier pattern here.)
The deadline is really soon, June 13th, (I just found out about it yesterday) but if you have a couple hours in the next couple weeks and are feeling crafty maybe this is something you'd like to do.
more info and great photos at Craft Hope.

I tried that pattern and it was so easy and came out so cute. I'm planning to make a few more tonight. My two girls picked out the fabric for the various parts (arms, legs, body)and I cut it all out today and I'll sew them up tonight.

Glad you are participating. Craft Hope will sponsor other projects after this one (this is their 2nd; the first was sending dresses to African girls).

PS: I did not use a canvas face. I used felt and then embroidered the face. (I think she paints on the canvas in the tutorial).
