over grown

so, what happens when you go away for a week and the person who tends to your garden does a great job watering but is too nervous to pick things?

Giant, kinda obscene zucchini, that's what.

but you know what else happens?
A great harvest of lettuce, celery, eggplant, onions, carrots, jalapenos kohlrabi, cucumbers, zucchini, broccoli, peas and strawberries! (strawberries not pictured because we already ate them.)
Yum, yum, yum!

Well, we had a giant zuke too that we just somehow overlooked til it was huge - not quite as long as the one you got but much fatter. We ate it and it was still delicious.

Had a great recipe at 4th of July party and have been making:

4 cups thin sliced zuke and yellow squash
1/2 cup diced red or green pepper
1 Tbs olive oil
1 Tbs Cajun seasoning (maybe less depending on how hot it is. I used Tony Chachere creole season)
parmasean cheese

toss all but cheese together and put in baking dish. Top with cheese. Bake, covered, at 350 for about 20 minutes. YUM!

Happy Harvesting!

Hi Abigail, thanks for leaving a comment on my blog. Your blog has been a great discovery! I love your vegies. I have planted broccoli for the first time and they are growing beautifully... Keep in touch as we seem to be in the same blogging heaven! Cheers, Jayne.
