a little support

I signed up for my community garden plot for this summer on Saturday, and ordered all my seeds on Sunday. (I'm garden obsessed. Should probably move somewhere with a shorter winter.) And while procrastinating, I've been drawing up garden plans and thinking about how to solve some of the problems I had last year.

One problem, supports for beans and peas. What I did worked ok, but I kept having to fix broken strings etc. I wish something like this plant support from Areaware would work, but I think it'd cast too much of a shadow on half the plant.

Then again, it might be pretty enough to make it worth a try.

You could make your own and just cut out all the nonsense in the middle. Keep the same outline though, because I like it. Oh, and come plant some things for me too!

I love that you are doing this! I need to do the same. . .

What a precious idea - I always admire people who do gardening...I think I should get a headstart - then I can help grandad out in his vegie patch!

I love this idea! I have a tiny herb garden on my patio + can't wait to have a real garden!

I am definitely planning on growing SOMETHING this summer. Not sure what, my neighbours had an impressive apartment balcony garden going on last year.

I'm moving next month, to my first home that will have a garden! I am so going to end up garden obsessed! Let me know how you get on with your peas and beans - I'm looking forward to being able to grow them, and being a novice could definitely do with the advise!! xx

We had great success with planting pole beans around bean teepees. We built our teepee structures with flax (generous neighbor's plants), but if you don't have a bunch of tall flax stems available, I'm sure your could use something like bamboo.
