a rose is a rose

Hellabores are one of my favorite spring flowers. One of the things I like best about them is they bloom super early. They are nicknamed 'Lenten roses' because, in places other than Michigan, they bloom during Lent.

But this must be some kind of magic year because, see that little beauty? she's blooming in my backyard right now!

Lovely! What a unique name for a flower, too. Maybe a misnomer?

I love this photo. It looks like it's from a 1960's flower text book. Isn't funny how many types of roses there are?

wow, that's so pretty. I have to add that to my to-be-planted list. I keep forgetting about hellabores.

Also, that hummingbird video is nuts! Jaw dropped...

Thanks for stopping by my blog! Have a great week.
