It's still a month away, but I'm already trying to figure out what to get Steven for our 8th anniversary (that's our wedding cake). We've always stuck to the traditional gifts, first anniversary paper, second anniversary cotton, etc, but just like last year, this year is a stumper: Bronze.
What the heck am I going to do with that, get his shoes bronzed or something?
Get him a bust of a Roman emperor's head? (holy Roman nose!)
A gift certificate to a tanning salon? (ew.)
Anyone have any ideas? Help!

Hmm this one is rough! I would go along with the "tan" idea and take a day trip to the beach or something, picnic lunch. That sounds more fun that having a roman bust. Where would you keep that anyway? ;-)

how about a bronze age party, dress up mandatory?
btw, love your wedding cake!
Haha!! Bronze? Maybe a bronze globe?
what about donating to a charity and finding one that will put a plaque up with your names on it?

just had our 8th too! Pottery is also traditional for the 8th so I ordered new coffee mugs from Heath :)
How about a set of bronze bookends? Is he a reader or an office person? I would love it! Or a bronze lamp (eh...not as cool as bookends)
Ooh lovely cake! I would check out High Street Market on Etsy - I got a great door hook in plated gold there. Maybe they will have something bronze like a paperweight, coat hook, letter opener, etc.
Yeah we tried to do the traditional gift thing. It worked out well until this year, 4th anniversary silk. Silk? Neither one of us could come up with anything silk the other would remotely want so we're giving it up. Which is to say I have no helpful bronze ideas. Perhaps a book with bronze in the title?
A trophy :).
P.S. - That cake is massive. I'm hungry.
Your cake is stunning!!!
You should go on a trip to a city that has hosted the Olympics because they gave out bronze medals:)
Ok hilarious photos of all the bronze first of all! Too good!
This is a tough one! At first I was thinking you could do something really corny like give him a jar of pennies and say soething silly like "if I had a penny for every time I thought of you...I'd have a lot of pennies" Sort of like an intro gag gift like "no wait thats not all!" then have a real gift or something.
In any case, I like a nice paperweight or letter opener. If anything YOU'll end up using it as decoration! Haha!
Haha, this is such a funny post... although I totally understand your problem! I'd suggest something simple and useful, like cuff links or a tie pin. He'll love it!
Why not a bottle of bronzer (I'm assuming that exists) and a picnic on the beach? I think that would be fun -- and, in my opinion, creating memories are always preferable. And your wedding cake is making me so hungry right now. So. Very. Hungry.
Oh that cake is gorgeous! and the tanning bed made me chuckle! Happy Soon to Be Anni lady! xx
That has to be the most beautiful wedding cake I have ever seen!
BTW, bronzer cream will be the healthier choice. :)
tickets to greece so that you can get bronze together?
Oh, my, gosh, I wish we'd ever thought to do traditional gifts like these. I love all of the ideas here. My suggestions is maybe a bronze id-style bracelet with a fun engraving.
Bronze also has very little metal-on-metal friction, which made it invaluable for the building of cannon where iron cannonballs would otherwise stick in the barrel.[citation needed] It is still widely used today for springs, bearings, bushings, automobile transmission pilot bearings, and similar fittings, and is particularly common in the bearings of small electric motors.
